You need to create campaigns then establish keywords for each campaign

I recommend setting a daily budget and letting Google maximize your clicks vs setting the CPC bid yourself

Use general keywords phrase matched like "carpet cleaning " to start ... Then use your analytic reports to identify quality long tail keywords to build your campaigns that will give you your best ROI

Man I just saw the other thread. If you don't have a website, then AdWords isn't gonna do anything for you. You need to slow down and get a plan. And use the search feature for hours and hours. Everything is in there.

Only set campaigns to run certain hours of day. And only certain days. start slow then add. If you run them 24/7 you may get slammed with a bill quick. at least if you limit the hours and you are set up wrong it wont hurt as bad. You can always add more running hours.
If you don't have a web site you have no proper landing place for them. Is that what I am understanding?
I second the youtube videos. Painfully watch them even if you dont understand. Till you do. Key in on small business campaigns. Local stuff. If you don't understand a word pause it and look it up. I know guys that would have saved thousands by hiring someone to start with BTW. Google gets that money even while your sleeping.Google never sleeps. Creepy enough for you.

If I were you, I would start with a smaller radius - 35 miles sounds like a huge area for me, I would target 2-3 cities in my area. Make sure you disable the display network (enabled by default). I would start with a small daily budget and 5-6 keywords and add new ones later on. Don't forget to add negative keywords like "how to" or "free" etc. I am sure you don't want to pay $10 because your neighbor is searching for how to diy clean his carpets. Letting Google maximizing your bids may be a good option for a person who just starts with AdWords. For me it's like letting IRS doing your taxes. Google will take your money really quick. Most of the times you will rank at the top position - top position is not always the best position. I will put it this way: Let's say your daily budget is $50 and the keyword "Carpet cleaning" in your area costs around $10. If you set your maximum bid at $10 you will get 5 clicks per day, if you set your maximum bid at $5 you can get 10 clicks if there is enough searches. You need to find the spot that works best for you. AdWords is a process, it's not an event.

P.s. here is a link to a good article about common mistakes while doing
AdWords:
https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/User-Articles/10-Common-AdWords-Mistakes/ba-p/299571

I hope this helps!
